When to Come

We are happy to have volunteers come to Yangshuo at any time throughout the year. However, there are a few times in the year where volunteers will not be needed, and this is during the examinations, national holidays, and festivals.

The non-volunteering periods are as follows:
(dates may vary from year to year, please confirm before coming)
• 1st week of October (national holiday)
•1 week in December (student exams)
•1 month in January/ February (spring festival)
•1st week of May (national holiday)
•1 week in June (student exams)
•July and August (summer holiday)

During July and August, our aim is to develop volunteer summer schools depending on the number of volunteers during these months. So please contact us in advance if you plan to be in Yangshuo at this time of year. (PLEASE NOTE: Professor Laurie MacKenzie, co-founder of the VET program and who is now retired in Canada was the coordinator for the summer camps. Until we can find an experienced coordinator/s for such programs, the summer schools will have to be temporarily suspended.)
